TeeDroid 3G FAQ
Where can I get a username and password?
You can set up an account at http://www.teedroid.com
Where do I go to see my rounds?
You can see all the rounds that you've posted at http://www.teedroid.com.
Should I keep rounds on my device?
You can, but you don't need to. All your rounds will be available on the server at http://www.teedroid.com and accessible from any internet connected computer.
How can I conserve power?
There are several things the app does already to conserve power. For example, the instant you put the phone in your pocket the screen will shut off. Beyond things the app does automatically there are some actions you can take to ensure that you have plenty of juice for your round:
- Turn off 3G. This will save a lot of power as it's much more power hungry than Edge.
- Turn off WiFi (it's not like you're going to use WiFi on the course anyway).
- Don't use live online scoring if you don't need it (this will keep the cell antenna active because it has to send each stroke to the server as it happens).
I'm still concerned about power...what else can I do?
In addition to conserving power, you can also get an external battery if you choose. One is available here (neither PDAscent nor TeeDroid are associated this vendor, it's just provided for your information).
I lose my GPS fix when I turn off my device and it takes a while to come back...what can I do?
Don't turn your device off unless you're going to have about 45 seconds to let the GPS reboot before hitting your next shot (like if you're waiting for a group ahead of you). The program will turn the screen off as soon as you put it in your pocket while in a round. To see this, start a round and cover the top part of the device (the screen will go off immediately).
I just want to use the green distances this round...is there a way to do that?
Yes. Start a round, turn off live online scoring and just use the display for distances. To advance to the next hole, set the tee box where ever and mark your first shot "in the hole". Once you're done, just delete the round. Don't post the round to the server or it will screw up your stats. In the future we'll provide an official way to do this.
